- 1 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 4 tablespoons butter cold or frozen
- 1/2 cup heavy cream
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 1-2 tablespon orange juice optional
Glaze:
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 tablespoon butter melted
- 1 tablespoon orange zest
- 2 tablespoons orange juice
In a large mixing bowl, add the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt, and then cut in the butter. Mix well, until the butter is incorporated into the flour. Add the orange peel, egg, heavy cream, and vanilla extract Mix well until the dough is formed.
Form the dough into a circle and pat it out until it is only ¾” thick. Score the dough lightly into wedges and lift carefully into the greased basket of the air fryer, or parchment-lined air fryer basket.
Cook in the air fryer at 350°F for 15 minutes or until the scone is cooked all the way through. Whisk together glaze ingredients, adjusting the amount of cream until desired consistency is reached. Drizzle glaze over scones and allow to set.
To Make the glaze, mix all of the glaze ingredient in a small bowl.
